Looking for a reason to add striped paper straws to your arsenal of merrymaking? Let’s look at a few.
- your lipstick/gloss will last longer
- your teeth will stay whiter
- you can color coordinate straw with drink
- conversation starter…”oh Mary never ceases to surprise us, does she?!”…you take it from there
- just plain fun
We’ve gotten the striped paper straw ball rolling. Your turn to pick it up and pass it on. Now, what to do with an open bottle of champagne?!

This is the house that love built and it’s also our latest and greatest idea.
Fun, cute, creative and unique…all the fixings for a fabulous Valentine’s Day party or family activity. The house is constructed from wafer cookies and royal icing. It’s actually much more sturdy than a gingerbread house and very easy to build. Assembly instructions and material list are included with the idea.
New year, new traditions. I have a feeling this one will be here to stay.
The first reaction received to this Valentine’s Day activity…”So cute, my five year old would pee her pants over this!”.
I just about had to crack out the Depends myself!

Isn’t it funny how quickly things change? For example, a couple of days after Christmas, I was in a store and poof – holiday decorations gone and Valentine’s had taken over.
I guess it’s all about planning ahead.
Here’s a little something to help you switch gears to Valentine’s Day (if you haven’t already). Candy hearts in glassine bags. Love, love, love candy hearts! You could even do heart shaped cookies with with a message written in icing. The choice is yours. Whatever you bestow upon those who are special, this presentation will wow.
They say that “the proof is in the pudding”. I’d like to think that “the proof is in the bag”. And, that the whole ensemble is proof that simple, is amazing!

It’s that time of year. You know, that time. They’re everywhere, playing with our minds. All things diet and exercise, have us by our marionette strings. All things fresh and new, are the bow to our fiddle.
Well, I say…phoey to it all! Don’t get me wrong, I support a healthy lifestyle. But I don’t think that healthy needs to be boring. I believe in a little something called moderation my friends. Okay, well honestly it’s more like I’m hiding behind that word because I have zero will power. So for me, moderation is a necessity. But here’s the thing. I love to bake, especially with my children. I also love to fit into my skinny jeans (without having to spray my legs with Pam in order to slide them on). So my resolution. Bake when I feel like baking. Enjoy a little and share a bunch. I mean really, does my family need 2 dozen cookies (emphasis on the need, want they just might)?!
Here’s the how to. A small bio-pak container for a brownie dessert for the family next door. A simple white box (with a circle label explaining it all) for an elderly friend. A berry box in a cellophane bag for the teachers’ room or office break room. All perfect (and stylish) ways to share.
If you’re looking for something sweet to add to your baking repertoire try these Rolo cookies I found at This Week for Dinner which came from A Greatfull Day (have to give props where props are due!). They are beyond decadent and incredibly easy (and fun) to make.
Enjoy all that life has to offer. Do it with moderation. And add a little Garnish.

Get ready folks. National Soup Swap day is January 23rd. So get your pot on, get your containers ready and spread the word!
We’ve already given the deets on everything you need to know to host your own soup swap. I think it sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to get together with friends. Sometimes we need an excuse to gather, otherwise we always seem to put off as life gets in the way. And that doesn’t sound like fun! Plus, your freezer is stocked with healthy, fresh soup. Perfect for a quick mid-week meal. I was flipping through the Williams-Sonoma catalogue last night and I’m thinking the white bean soup is sounding delish.
Set the date. Search your recipes. Savor the flavor!

We’re often asked the question “I love Garnish, but live outside of North America…what am I to do?”. And our answer is, “No worries because everyone deserves a little Garnish!”.
Or to put it more simply, YES we do ship to international destinations. The order process is slightly different but just as easy and here is how it goes.
- send us an email with your Garnish wish list and your full shipping address
- we’ll put together a shipping quote for you and email you back the order total
- if you’re happy with what you see, then let us know
- the simplest way to send payment is through paypal sending the monies to orders@thinkgarnish.com
- as soon as we receive payment, your Garnishes will pack their bags and be on their way
To give you an idea of past shipping charges here are a few bits of history. We’ve shipped to Australia for $23, Brazil for $20 and Hawaii (technically not international) for $16. Since shipping is based on weight it all depends on the contents of that wish list. We ship via USPS Priority Mail and international orders travel the same way with a shipping time of 6-10 days.
So there you have it. It’s always good to be in the know. It’s always nice when things are easy. It’s always fun to add a little Garnish.
