Ice cold milk and chocolate.  Doesn’t that sound yummy?  Sure does, especially when it’s Garnished with a blue and white striped paper straw.

Niki at Papery and Cakery was involved in planning a baby shower with Brandi. Folks, this one is full of inspiration, splendor and happiness.

Grab some milk and chocolate goodness and go check it out.

What’s better than a little something sweet?  A little something sweet, that’s cute!

Hmmm, what’s inside that little brown box?  Could it be a slice of cake?  Maybe a pastry…I’m thinking a mille-feuille.  And that fork (how fun with the rub on letters!).  Just staring at you, calling your name to dig on in. Oh great, now there’s potential for drool on the keyboard.

Here you have it, kraft rectangle box + wooden fork + natural bakery twine.  Place a petite loaf liner inside to spruce it up a bit. What are you going to do with it?  Wedding favors, party favors, shower favors.  Share that big cake you made (really, do you need the whole cake?) with those around you.  A great presentation for dessert.  Bring a bite of sweet to that person who you know really needs a smile today. So simple, yet so fun.  A statement, made.

Now, back to what is awaiting inside that box.  Eclair, tiramisu, sponge cake, heavenly chocolate cake…

…is more friends like Natalie.  While she is not a personal friend (maybe she’ll friend adopt me!), I know that if I was down in the trenches, I would want her right alongside me.  You see, Natalie’s bestie, Jenn, is preggers and has been put on bed rest.  So, since Jenn couldn’t go to a baby shower, Natalie brought the baby shower to her.  Using her girlfriend sneaky ways, she knew the only time that Jenn left the house was to pick her daughter up from school. During that 8 minute departure from home and bed, Natalie snuck in and set up an amazing display of friendship, love, and thoughtfulness.

The celebration took place in the backyard, picnic style.  Wooden pint size berry boxes held the nourishment, small white gable boxes held the treats (aren’t they so cute with the names?!) and, blue and white straws transported the sweet key lime sodas.

If you know someone who needs a little pick-me-up think like Natalie.  I am confident that Jenn’s world was a little brighter that day.  Being stuck at home was a little bit easier.  And her growing bundle did a little happy dance in the womb.

Moments like these…that’s what life is all about.

There are cookies.  And then there are cookies.  The difference, a talented gal like Erin and of course, a little Garnish.

Now, these cookies with their cute edible frosting decals are pretty amazing.  But when Garnished with a glassine bag or a cellophane bag tied in twine, well now you’re talking!

Aren’t they wonderful?!  A great little nugget of eye candy.  Planning a Mother’s Day Brunch?  Hosting a baby or bridal shower? Thinking wedding favors? Or my favorite reason to Garnish…no real reason at all!  Just because…you like to make people smile.

So go ahead, get your baking on,or slice and bake (for you bakers out there please don’t cringe).  Whip up a batch.  Dole out the smiles.

Hello Cookies.  Hello Frosting.  Hello Garnish.

lions and tigers

Yet again, Garnish folk never fail to impress.

Check out what Jenn did with the 4×4 clear acetate box.  Well, for that matter, the whole party she threw for her youngest sons’ first birthday is defintely worthy taking a gander (and was featured on Kara’s Party Ideas). Okay, back to the acetate box filled with…wait for it…it’s so simple and ingenious it will make you go hmmm!…animal crackers.  Yup, that’s right, animal crackers.  Brilliant!

Great idea for a little one’s birthday party favor or a baby shower favor.  Jenn customized her Garnish to fit the party theme.  An adorable elephant topped the boxes and the number one graphic for the front.  Love them both.

Animal crackers in an acetate box.  Once again, it doesn’t take much, just a little Garnish!

No Kitchen Utensils

Every once in a while the comment will pop up – Love Garnish, but don’t love to cook.  To which we reply – You don’t need to cook sweetie, just add a little Garnish and no one will know!  For example, yes, I’ll admit it, there are occasions where I just might have popped by Starbucks or a the bake shop of a grocery store to pick up some treats.  I put my own spin on the Garnish, ’cause that’s what’s so great.  Now, I never offered up that it wasn’t homemade.  I didn’t need to, I had them at the packaging.

No Kitchen Utensils 1

Back in December Garnish participated in a giveaway hosted by The Nester.  We sent her some Garnishes to play with and what she came up with blew our ribbons and bows off.  Here’s a great example.  She spoke about sprucing up hand me down toys, a great budget gift.  She added a little Garnish.  And she was right when she questioned what little boy wouldn’t love to receive some Legos for  his collection when presented like this in our pint sized paper container.

You know what really hit the wow button?  The use of the ribbon on just the lid.  Just the lid folks!  Seriously had never thought of that and am in deep love.  Wouldn’t this be fun for all you ice cream folks out there?  I say put ribbons and bows in the freezer.  Just maybe put a piece of plastic wrap or press and seal on top of the ice cream first so the ribbon stays clean.  Maybe some caramel corn inside, with the same type of ribbon idea. Yummy and cute party favor.

And, no kitchen utensils required!

pie in the sky 1

According to wikianswers, there are over 12,000 types of registered pies in the northern hemisphere.  I have two comments on that. 1. that’s a whole lot of pie and 2. seriously, do people really register their pie recipes?

Well, Laura had a great idea…and pie is front and center.   She co-hosted a baby shower, always fun.  Take a guess what the party favors were.  If you said pie, we say “you’re right!”.  Little mini pies.  Ingenious.  Perfect for a mid afternoon snack, with a cup of tea.  Perfect for a late night kitchen raid (we know we shouldn’t do it, think moderation).  Perfect to share with someone you love.

For this totally cute, fun and unique baby shower favor, bake (or buy…we won’t tell) your little pies.  Place in designated bio-pak container.  You know, cherry in cherry, apple in apple. Stack.  Resist sneaking some.  Watch your baby well-wishers faces light up upon exiting.

pie in the sky 3

To add to it all, Laura embellished our white cups to coordinate her color scheme.  And because she is a forward thinking hostess, she had plenty of other Garnishes on hand (small bio-pak and deli containers) on hand to send home leftovers.

Love pie.  Love the idea.  Love the Garnish.

Quick, name 25 different types of pie.  3…2…1…Go!

16 November 2009

Thanks to Tara for sharing with us how she added a little Garnish to a baby shower she hosted this past summer. This girl has some serious creativity and talent!

Sew Baby 1

Sew Baby 2

For the party favors, she used glassine bags with a stitch across the top. Nut and party cups were perfect for, well, nuts and the red tissue was perfect for her color palette.

Hmmm…I’m inspired, how about you?!

sweet bouquet

When we received a note from Jean sharing with us her Garnish, two things came to mind.

1. Sah-weet!!! Talk about creativity. She turned the clear candy tubes into stems of flowers. Put them all in a vase to create an amazing centerpiece for her daughter’s baptism celebration.

2. Sweet!!! The stems of the flowers have candy in them. Yum! A really fantastic (and unique) party favor.

This idea carries some major options…girl’s birthday parties, showers, wedding favors, dinner parties…the list goes on and on!

Have fun with this one and share a little sweetness today.

All-About-the-Double

How is one to celebrate the impending arrival of twins? With all things ‘double’ of course!

Garnish was recently asked the question…”I’m hosting my sister’s baby shower for twins, want to use items with ‘double’ in the name for funky and unique centerpieces. Want to add a little Garnish but can’t quite figure it out, can you help?”.

Umm…hello?! We LOVE to help! (more…)
