Here’s a trivia tidbit for you all.  Did you know that there are 285 shades of red?! That’s right folks, according to wikianswers.com, the color red comes in a whole bunch of varieties.

So we thought we’d put a seersucker red and white striped straw against different colored backgrounds to show you what we’re talking about. As we mention on the product page, the manufacturing process of these straws can lead to variations in straw’s coloring. While the blue and grey pretty much stay true to form (after all, they’re aren’t any other shades of grey, are there?!), the red seems to be most effected. We felt some more clarification was needed here. Perhaps this picture could be worth 285 words.

All we can think about is the two hundred and eighty five ways you’ll have a blast with these Garnishes!  But then again, we do have a one tract mind ;-)

Open freezer. Grab ice cream. Drop a scoop in a 4oz kraft ripple cup. Sprinkle with some colorful confections. Add disposable small wooden spoon.

And that’s the summer scoop – with style.

If you were to ask what one of the top 10 selling products at Garnish is, we’d answer the “do me a favor” glassine bag.  They are so pretty in their simplicity and totally versatile.  You love them, we love them, and here are six different ways you can use them.

  1. Crackers and cheese in a large glassine bag.  Fun for appetizers, picnics or an outdoor soiree.  And if you have folks in your group who don’t enjoy the thought of a community appetizer plate, well than this will definitely be a hit!
  2. Let the sun shine in and the gift shine through.  The medium glassine bag with a gift card tucked in, adhered to a pretty note card.  Well, that’s just plain pretty
  3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m terrible at putting music mixes together and love it when others do it for me.  A welcomed favor at a wedding or party, music cd in an extra large glassine bag closed with a bit of twine.
  4. Wondering what to bring your gracious hostess?  How about a stack of coasters in a large glassine bag.  Always needed on warm summer days to protect the tables from those inevitable sweaty drink glasses.  Garnished with twine and nestled in a wooden pint size berry box.
  5. How cute is this?!  Use the small glassine bag as a cutlery holder (of course we are choosing the wooden disposable cutlery and the all so cute straw) which can also double as a place card.  Loving this!
  6. Who says you need to use a regular ol’ envelope for an invite?  Get out a pair of fancy scissors to trim the top and give it a wee stitch and you’ve just created an invite that pops.

Do me a favor, share your favorite glassine bag idea(s).  Click on the pic to see the glassine in all it’s glory.

You might have thought that since this pint size wooden berry container is named Berry Berry Quite Contrary, it’s just for berries.  And if you were of that notion, then you must have forgotten that we’re huge fans of multi-tasking.  And here we have six ways, other than the obvious fruit, to use the pint size wooden berry basket.

  1. A picnic lunch.  This idea will just never get old.  No matter what the sandwhich, no matter what the drink…the final lunch box is always adorable.  Here’s a tip.  Prepare all the lunch boxes ahead of time.  Place on a tray, cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge.  When it’s picnic party time arrange on a table or blanket.  More time to spend with your peeps.
  2. Control that clutter.  Tame your craft stations, homework stations, bill-paying stations.  Because, don’t you just feel so much better when everything has a home?!
  3. Give a gift.  While the idea of a gift basket is nothing new.  A gift in this basket will be unexpected and fondly remembered.  The twine adds to it all.
  4. Display your collections.  A different twist for showing off your wares.  Here’s a tidbit…enjoy the natural beauty of the wood or paint, stamp, or decorate to suit your mood.
  5. Movie night snack.  While movies and popcorn go hand in hand I’m thinking candies or nuts would be just as yummy and cute.  Line the basket with a piece of tissue so nothing escapes through the cracks.
  6. Every day ingredients.  Just like the way this looks, plain and simple.

And thus concludes today’s episode of six pack on pint size wooden berry baskets.  We hope you’ve enjoyed the show.   Click on the pic to view the show in full screen mode.

Fresh fruit and vegatables…this is their time to shine.  The crops are planted, farmer’s markets are ready, road side stands prepped.  Nature’s art at it’s finest.

Here’s a great idea from the talented food stylists at Williams-Sonoma.  Fresh fruit as a centerpiece.  We’ve seen it before, it’s nothing really new.  But sometimes when you see it, you just think…well that’s brilliant!

Planning and Independence Day celebration?  Or any gathering where the color red is party of the party scheme?  Here’s a fresh idea with fresh cherries and our pint sized wooden berry baskets.

This is quick, it’s easy and offers a big bang for your buck.

So when life hands you a bowl of cherries, turn them into a simple, yet show stopping, edible centerpiece.

I once read somewhere that the best birthday party favor ever received was a pair of socks.  The clothes dryer is always hungry for socks and us Garnish folk are big fans of unique party favors that are either consumable or serve a function.  We’ll consider warm tootsies, a function.

Amber had an idea for cupcakes using this translucent deli container.  We built on that, an added a bright and cheery pair of socks.

I ask you this…how freaking cute would these look hanging from a clothesline?!!

And in case you’re curious, all we did was make a little slice in the lid and loop and knot a piece of ribbon.

Trust me when I say this will be a birthday party moment.  How do I know this?  I held this party for a group of 7 year old boys.  At first all I could think was, really…a cooking party?!  And all I could imagine was a destroyed kitchen and quickly calculating the amount of paper towels required to pull off this event.

I was so wrong and this party was, and is, oh so right!

Check out our latest idea for all the details.  It’s name: If They Make It, They Will Eat It, was proven on that 7 year old day.  One of the sous chefs announced, upon his arrival, that he doesn’t eat anything except for peanut butter and jelly.  His mother, nodded in agreement and dismay.  Should make for an interesting day.  But here’s what transpired.  They all had an amazingly great time.  Who knew that squishing tomatoes and preparing meatballs could be so much fun?!  Yes, there might have been a little food fight involved but that’s all in day with boys, right!

I decided to leave the actual stove and oven work to the above 30 18 crowd and sent the boys outside to toss around the ice cream ball they prepped.  Great way to burn off some energy and bonus..ice cream for the cake. When it was time to eat, they dove right in.  Even that little dude who told me he only ate PB&J. After a little encouragement from his buds, he ate everything.  And, he loved it all!

All the boys were sent home with samplings of everything they made to share with their families.  A perfect party favor. They were so proud of their accomplishments.

Get creative in the kitchen.  Grab some Garnish. Give a moment, of the cookery kind.
