“Wow!”…that was our reaction when we saw how Kristin added a little Garnish to her son’s birthday party. With each scroll down the page, we were more and more in awe. Kristin has some serious party planning and photography skills and we encourage you to check her out. The birthday boy definitely has a slew of fantastic moments for his memory books!

Here are the highlights:

Her son, Cooper, was bestowed with an 8th birthday pirate style. And when his mama decides to throw a party…she goes all out. Swashbuckling pirate gear was everywhere and oh so tastefully done. Pirates need their strength for all their pirate duties so the menu included veggies and dip, in nut and party cups, to build their muscles.

And to really fill those bellies, macaroni and cheese (the good ol’ boxed stuff to keep it simple) was served in the small bio-pak containers. Now, regular ol’ pirates might very well use their hands to eat, but this mom knows that a pirate with good manners will go far in life so she added a disposable wooden spoon.

To wash it all down, cream soda with a seersucker red striped straw.

Shiver me timbers, this party has it going on. We’re so happy that Garnish could be part of such a special day.

The arrival of a new baby is glorious.  But let’s face it, they’re needy little suckers.  Fresh out of the gate, so to speak, they require it all.  And our friends and family are always there to bear gifts of teensy clothing, car seats, the boatloads of equipment that a little person requires, and the all important, diapers.  We dote, we ooh and aah at that precious little miracle.  Their every whim, their every need is speedily met.

But what about Mama?!  She has needs too and she’s most likely so busy tending to her little bundle that she has completely spaced out on herself.  That whole pregnancy brain thing, it’s known to linger a little while longer. So what does that Mama need?  She needs food.  Plain and simple. And better yet, she needs someone else to make it for her.  A well nourished Mama is a happy Mama and  a happy Mama leads to a happy family. Sort of like that line from Jerry McGuire – “A happy wife means a happy life.” – or something like that.

Have fun shopping for all things cute for that baby and when you bring it on over, include a little lunch for Mama.  She needs her strength and to Garnish it up is as easy as 1,2,3!

Start with a squat bio pak container.  It won’t leak, can be microwaved and was designed just for this task.  Insert lunch of choice.  Lay the bio pak container in the center of an ever-so-cute tea towel, which she can use to drape across her lap so she doesn’t have to leave her comfy chair.

Bring the sides together like you’re wrapping a present…which you are!

Tie the corners in a knot and tuck disposable wooden cutlery into the knot, because really, do you think she wants to do dishes?!

Trust me when I say, if you bring Mama food, you will have a friend for life.

Show of hands.  How many of you pack your child’s lunch every day? Now, how many have to pack your own too?  Or do you forget about yourself, as we all seem to do.

Came across this photo in Nigella Lawson’s Express cookbook.  It has Garnish written all over it.  And it got us to thinking that if lunch looked this enticing every day, a) we’d probably actually take a lunch break and b) we’d be rockin’ it while doing so!

The bio pak containers are great for a grab and go lunch.  Sturdy, leakproof, and, environmentally friendly and of course, super fun. Don’t forget to pack some disposable wooden cutlery.  Again, environmentally friendly and tres cute.

School is winding down, or may be over depending on your neck of the woods, but pack this idea away because it will come in handy for field trips.  Children are usually asked to bring their lunches in all disposable containers.  They often end up eating on the bus.  And if that’s the case, serving up lunch that easily sits on their lap makes for very easy munching.

Survey says…this idea is a winner!

pie in the sky 1

According to wikianswers, there are over 12,000 types of registered pies in the northern hemisphere.  I have two comments on that. 1. that’s a whole lot of pie and 2. seriously, do people really register their pie recipes?

Well, Laura had a great idea…and pie is front and center.   She co-hosted a baby shower, always fun.  Take a guess what the party favors were.  If you said pie, we say “you’re right!”.  Little mini pies.  Ingenious.  Perfect for a mid afternoon snack, with a cup of tea.  Perfect for a late night kitchen raid (we know we shouldn’t do it, think moderation).  Perfect to share with someone you love.

For this totally cute, fun and unique baby shower favor, bake (or buy…we won’t tell) your little pies.  Place in designated bio-pak container.  You know, cherry in cherry, apple in apple. Stack.  Resist sneaking some.  Watch your baby well-wishers faces light up upon exiting.

To add to it all, Laura embellished our white cups to coordinate her color scheme.  And because she is a forward thinking hostess, she had plenty of other Garnishes on hand (small bio-pak and deli containers) on hand to send home leftovers.

Love pie.  Love the idea.  Love the Garnish.

Quick, name 25 different types of pie.  3…2…1…Go!

I think sometimes we get caught up with Garnish being all about food. And that is “sew” not the case. Packaging is everything…no matter what’s inside. (more…)

When a little garnish will do ya

Looking for a fun little container for all your treats and treasures? Look no further because the little bro (or sis!) of our squat bio pak containers is here. Measuring in at 4 3/8″ x 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″, it is perfect when a little Garnish is all you need.

And with the Holidays fast approaching, you’ll be wanting to spread a little Garnish along with all that love and merriment!

For a point of reference, the two small bio pak containers are sitting on a cake stand.

take out idea

When that new bundle of joy arrives, our ability to make dinner seems to depart. The days go by so quickly and then, around 5pm your rumbling tummy is like an alarm clock, reminding you it’s time to eat. But what to make, is there even food in the fridge…these are the questions that clog your mind. This task becomes even more daunting if you have other little mouths to feed in the household. (more…)

Clambake season is here and whether you are a New Englander, a Canadian East Coaster, or just pull your lobster from the tank at your local grocery store, think Garnish for your next clambake.

Here are a few suggestions. I picture clambakes as a casual affair. Folks gathered on a beach or in the backyard…copping a squat where they can. It’s a meal that’s meant to be eaten with the hands. Use the large cardboard clamshell (hey, what an appropriate name!) to serve all the fixings of the clambake. When it’s opened, it works as the perfect lap tray, picnic table tray or lounging on the beach blanket tray. The squat bio-pak box would also be a fine idea and it won’t leak. The small soup containers or clear deli containers are a great size for the butter with an opening wide enough to dunk freely and easily.

Serve a batch of lemonade, punch or cocktails in the beverage box and use the white cups for serving. Use the labels to mark everyone’s cups so there’s no confusion. Have some cocktail forks available for pulling out the lobster meat and keep plenty of napkins around as this is one messy meal!

I’m guessing that the majority of us don’t have a beach in our backyard (and if you do, I’m a teensie bit green with envy right now) so I have done some research and found a recipe for a backyard New England Clambake. This is taken from the Food Network. Here goes: (more…)

There I was, standing in the checkout line at the grocery store trying to pacify my littlest one who was none too happy with me for peeling away from him the yogurt container that he was happily trying to get his little teeth into. While trying to ignore his wails I grabbed the latest issue of Martha Stewart Everyday Food. As I flipped through the little magazine this picture caught my eye and miraculously all screaming ceased.

We are inspired by so many things in our lives…a song, a quote, a picture. Be inspired by Martha and re-create the look using a Garnish Bio-Pak container. Not only are they attractive but they’re environmentally friendly too. I’m thinking a perfect presentation (and gift) for the end of the year teacher thank-you’s.

I can’t imagine anything better…except for a non-hissy-fit-throwing child at the check out!
