Do you hear it?!  The giggles of little ones, the laughter of grown ups.  The lively chatter of folks visiting and catching up.  The squeals of delight as friends and family reunite after a too-long absence. What’s that you ask?! Why, those are the sounds of water splashing, motor boats whirring, and paddles dipping in the lake.

Ahh, the sounds of summer.  The enjoyment of celebrating the 4th of July.  I bet you’re smiling right now just thinking of it all.  And we’ll double down, and bet you’ll enjoy these 4th of July party ideas and inspirations even more.

What’s that noise?  It’s the gentle flap of the flag dancing in the breeze. Red, white, and blue…the colors of Old Glory. And what’s this you see?  A festive party favor for your holiday table.  Candies in a 3×3x3 clear acetate box wrapped in red and white twine.  Imagine a table or tiered stand filled with these. You know how we love us something sweet!

Can you hear the sizzle of the grill?  The cooking mode of choice for an independence day festivity.  The paper chipboard tray is the serving style of choice.  Your hotdogs and sides will rest comfortably here. Burgers and lobster rolls too!  Chopped pickles in the oval dip cups and condiments in the 2oz plastic bottles (thanks to this Garnish customer for that brilliant thought!).  Give your guests a helping hand and put together disposable wooden cutlery and paper straws and a napkin too in the small white paper bag.  A pretty trim of the bag adds to the beauty.

Do brain freezes make a noise?  I don’t know about that, but I do know that everyone loves something cold on a hot summer day.  Make your own snow cones in our white paper cone cup and serve with a wooden spoon. Anything cold will do, sorbet, granita, or freeze juice in ice cubes tray.  Put those frozen cubes in a plastic bag and give it a bang.  That’s what we did and it looks pretty darn yummy!

Crackling, snapping, and maybe a little singing.  The sounds of a campfire.  A favorite way to end the day.  Gathering around the warmth of the flame and watching fireworks or fireflies.  There’s still room in those tummies for a gooey marshmallowy, chocolately treat.  Presenting all the ingredients to make your s’mores in a 4×4x4 white box, and sweet sentiment on a square clear label, will really cap off your holiday right.

We love the sounds of summer and we love the sight of a Garnished one!

Don’t forget to click on a pic if you want to see it in its full glory.

Garnish + Enjoy

DIY-Ice-Cream

We’re going for two ice cream posts in a row here at Garnish because I am a firm believer that a) you can never have too much ice cream and b) there is always room, at least in my belly, for ice cream! Feast your eyes on an ice cream party favor brought to us by a very creative Garnish fan, Michele.

Here’s the 411 on this great make your own sundaes idea. She purchased some colorful bowls and spoons at her local handy dandy dollar store and then added a little Garnish. Each favor included rock salt in a small cellophane bag and instructions on how to make your own ice cream. Sundae syrup is in the small plastic bottle and all sorts of toppings are in the glassine bags. My favorite being little cookies in a glassine bag that says ’smoosh’, very fun. Let’s see, what else do we have going on here? Sprinkles in the black oval dip cup and a white bowl with lid is included to store the ice cream in the freezer (if it makes it that long!).

What’s left to say, but…WOW!

How fun! Maddie held a campout themed birthday party for her son and of course you can’t have a campout without some S’mores.

Here’s how she put her kits together. Maddie used the paper chipboard tray to hold everything, and also became the perfect S’more station/lap tray. I have to give her props because she has learned that when dealing with children…if each child has their own ’set up’, then everyone is happy! Inside the tray she included all the essentials, chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers (in our cellophane bags). For a little garnish for the S’mores, she added some sprinkles and candies which were placed in the black oval dip cups. Our brown and white twine sealed the deal.

Thanks for sharing Maddie. Love your creativity. I’m sure you had a group of very happy campers!

take out idea

When that new bundle of joy arrives, our ability to make dinner seems to depart. The days go by so quickly and then, around 5pm your rumbling tummy is like an alarm clock, reminding you it’s time to eat. But what to make, is there even food in the fridge…these are the questions that clog your mind. This task becomes even more daunting if you have other little mouths to feed in the household. (more…)

There is something magical about a child’s first birthday. The emergence from babyhood to the discovery of being a toddler. Alison threw her daughter a party to remember, and I can only imagine what the future birthdays will be like.

Check out her blog for all the glorious details. Thanks Alison for sharing your daughter’s special day with us. Everything looked beautiful and the country fair theme really came through. I was happy to brainstorm the ideas with you and we’re honored that Garnish was part of your daughter’s big milestone!

Congratulations Norah!
