We’re starting a new series here at Garnish where we take one product and show you six possibilities to add a little Garnish. We’ve named it six pack, and here goes.
The No Soup for You container got it’s name from the love-to-hate-him character from Seinfeld. However, this beauty’s duties go far beyond just holding soup.
- Know someone feeling under the weather? Give the perfect cure, soup. Garnish with red and white bakery twine and a disposable wooden spoon. They’ll be feeling better at first sight.
- Looking for a way to display cutlery for a buffet? This is both pretty and functional. All the things a Garnish gal/guy loves.
- Need a party favor that won’t be trashed? Pour pieces of Lego into the container and don with a clear square label. Beautiful!
- Who doesn’t love something sweet?! Let them eat cake, or a cupcake, or whatever suits your mood. Accompany with a disposable wooden fork and let them dig right in.
- Have flowers but don’t know what to do with them? Use the container as a vase. It creates a simple and sophisticated centerpiece when they’re lined up down the middle of the table.
- Want a way to cool off? Serve ice cream. For those who make it yourself, this is perfect. A great hostess gift, party favor, or good looking dessert bar.
- What a number 7?! No, just wanted to let you know that you can click on the pic to see it larger…for those of us with old ailing eyes.
So there you have it. Who knew you could have so much fun with No Soup For You?!

Every once in a while the comment will pop up – Love Garnish, but don’t love to cook. To which we reply – You don’t need to cook sweetie, just add a little Garnish and no one will know! For example, yes, I’ll admit it, there are occasions where I just might have popped by Starbucks or a the bake shop of a grocery store to pick up some treats. I put my own spin on the Garnish, ’cause that’s what’s so great. Now, I never offered up that it wasn’t homemade. I didn’t need to, I had them at the packaging.

Back in December Garnish participated in a giveaway hosted by The Nester. We sent her some Garnishes to play with and what she came up with blew our ribbons and bows off. Here’s a great example. She spoke about sprucing up hand me down toys, a great budget gift. She added a little Garnish. And she was right when she questioned what little boy wouldn’t love to receive some Legos for his collection when presented like this in our pint sized paper container.
You know what really hit the wow button? The use of the ribbon on just the lid. Just the lid folks! Seriously had never thought of that and am in deep love. Wouldn’t this be fun for all you ice cream folks out there? I say put ribbons and bows in the freezer. Just maybe put a piece of plastic wrap or press and seal on top of the ice cream first so the ribbon stays clean. Maybe some caramel corn inside, with the same type of ribbon idea. Yummy and cute party favor.
And, no kitchen utensils required!

Oh, ice cream…how do I love the?! Let me count the ways. Buttercrunch, peppermint stick, cookies ‘n cream!
Am holding back from breaking into song in fear of making her cringe. But seriously, Mickey is oh so fine. And let me tell you why. She sent us the sweetest note thanking us for everything. That just made us smile (the ear to ear kind). Then she also shared that she makes her own ice cream, and the fun and yummy kind. You know, if I can think it, I will make it, kind.
The white pint sized paper cartons were made for moments like this. She is now able to store all of her frozen creations in her freezer at once. And as she puts it, in an adorable way….just like Ben and his buddy Jerry.
But Mickey has a bit of a quandary. That is, what, oh what, handle should she give these concoctions? Her husband has taken a stab at it but she feels she needs to go back to the drawing board. But never fear, because Garnish is here and came up with a suggestion that am currently obsessing over. An ice cream naming party!
The words ice cream and party in the same sentence are making me all a twitter. I am sooo going to do this myself and if you’re into ice cream you should too. Because it just sounds fun (and easy). Gather your creative ice cream loving friends. Set out an assortment of samplings (nut and party cups would be awesome here). Equip everyone with a name sheet for each selection. You could even say a little blurb about each flavor, which might help trigger some ideas for the naming process. Post all the names and have everyone vote. Oh my gosh, I love it! For an orange sherbet with chocolate chips…orange ya glad?! Ben, Jerry…what do ya think?!
The Olympics are over. Before we know it we’ll be planning Memorial Day parties. And ice cream will be bringing smiles, and cooling souls.
And by the way, speaking of twitter, you can now follow us here!

You’re never too young, or old, to have fun with Garnish. Case in point, Michele’s creation for her daughter’s kindergarten class.
She made a contribution to the classroom of colored rice. Now, myself, even though I have children I had to back to her for some clarification. Colored rice…why and never heard of it. But you see, Michele is far smarter than I. The rice is for their sensory table and the color, well that’s to help the children learn. The little one attends a french immersion school so they’re learning all sorts of new things, like language.
Now, yes, she could have sent the rice to school in plastic storage bags. But being the creative and fun mom that she is (sorry, forgot – talented!), she took a few extra minutes and created a cute clear circle label with the word riz (rice in french) and the color (in french). The rice was put in the paper bowls with lids…avec l’etiquette…and there you have it folks…form, beauty and functionality.

All right all you ice cream aficionados…your ice cream creations now have an extra safe home.
The pint-sized containers now come with the option of a non-vented lid, or the traditional vented. If you would like to order these containers with the non-vented lids, please make sure to indicate this in the ‘comment’ line of the shopping cart.
While a sheet of plastic wrap on top of the container before putting on the lid works just fine to protect your ice cream, think of the non-vented lid as the dead bolt on locking in the freshness!
Be sure to let us know if there’s a Garnish that you’ve been looking for. We just might be able to help you (and others) out!
Now, I’ll take two scoops please!

On a recent trip to my family’s cottage in the lovely land of Muskoka, I was flipping through a Canadian Living magazine. And here is what I found. Ice cream truffles! That’s right, truffles that are ice cream. I am loving everything about it! (more…)

We’re going for two ice cream posts in a row here at Garnish because I am a firm believer that a) you can never have too much ice cream and b) there is always room, at least in my belly, for ice cream! Feast your eyes on an ice cream party favor brought to us by a very creative Garnish fan, Michele.
Here’s the 411 on this great make your own sundaes idea. She purchased some colorful bowls and spoons at her local handy dandy dollar store and then added a little Garnish. Each favor included rock salt in a small cellophane bag and instructions on how to make your own ice cream. Sundae syrup is in the small plastic bottle and all sorts of toppings are in the glassine bags. My favorite being little cookies in a glassine bag that says ’smoosh’, very fun. Let’s see, what else do we have going on here? Sprinkles in the black oval dip cup and a white bowl with lid is included to store the ice cream in the freezer (if it makes it that long!).
What’s left to say, but…WOW!

I love crafts. Well, let me re-phrase that…I love kid crafts. The simplicity (which is right up my alley…there ain’t that much talent here), the nostalgia of the innocence of childhood, the reveling of your creation. I have realized that if you put youngsters together (and this works for adults too!) and keep their hands busy all of a sudden their mouths and minds open up and you can have the best conversations with your little ones. Gotta love those win-win situations! (more…)

If you’ve ever doubted that you can’t be a minimalist and still create a statement then these photos from a Donna Hay magazine are sure to sway you.
Referring back to my love of magazines and my love of pulling bits of inspiration from all around, I give you the beauty of a chic yet simple table setting. While our plates, bowls and cups are slightly different, the concept is still the same. The plate is multi-tasking as both a serving vessel and a name card…how fun!
Be known for your unique get-togethers. Be known for your ability to whip together impromptu parties that always have that special touch, yet you enjoy the company too because it’s that easy. Be known for your Garnish. I mean really…who wouldn’t want to be!
