You might have thought that since this pint size wooden berry container is named Berry Berry Quite Contrary, it’s just for berries.  And if you were of that notion, then you must have forgotten that we’re huge fans of multi-tasking.  And here we have six ways, other than the obvious fruit, to use the pint size wooden berry basket.

  1. A picnic lunch.  This idea will just never get old.  No matter what the sandwhich, no matter what the drink…the final lunch box is always adorable.  Here’s a tip.  Prepare all the lunch boxes ahead of time.  Place on a tray, cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge.  When it’s picnic party time arrange on a table or blanket.  More time to spend with your peeps.
  2. Control that clutter.  Tame your craft stations, homework stations, bill-paying stations.  Because, don’t you just feel so much better when everything has a home?!
  3. Give a gift.  While the idea of a gift basket is nothing new.  A gift in this basket will be unexpected and fondly remembered.  The twine adds to it all.
  4. Display your collections.  A different twist for showing off your wares.  Here’s a tidbit…enjoy the natural beauty of the wood or paint, stamp, or decorate to suit your mood.
  5. Movie night snack.  While movies and popcorn go hand in hand I’m thinking candies or nuts would be just as yummy and cute.  Line the basket with a piece of tissue so nothing escapes through the cracks.
  6. Every day ingredients.  Just like the way this looks, plain and simple.

And thus concludes today’s episode of six pack on pint size wooden berry baskets.  We hope you’ve enjoyed the show.   Click on the pic to view the show in full screen mode.

Fresh fruit and vegatables…this is their time to shine.  The crops are planted, farmer’s markets are ready, road side stands prepped.  Nature’s art at it’s finest.

Here’s a great idea from the talented food stylists at Williams-Sonoma.  Fresh fruit as a centerpiece.  We’ve seen it before, it’s nothing really new.  But sometimes when you see it, you just think…well that’s brilliant!

Planning and Independence Day celebration?  Or any gathering where the color red is party of the party scheme?  Here’s a fresh idea with fresh cherries and our pint sized wooden berry baskets.

This is quick, it’s easy and offers a big bang for your buck.

So when life hands you a bowl of cherries, turn them into a simple, yet show stopping, edible centerpiece.

…is more friends like Natalie.  While she is not a personal friend (maybe she’ll friend adopt me!), I know that if I was down in the trenches, I would want her right alongside me.  You see, Natalie’s bestie, Jenn, is preggers and has been put on bed rest.  So, since Jenn couldn’t go to a baby shower, Natalie brought the baby shower to her.  Using her girlfriend sneaky ways, she knew the only time that Jenn left the house was to pick her daughter up from school. During that 8 minute departure from home and bed, Natalie snuck in and set up an amazing display of friendship, love, and thoughtfulness.

The celebration took place in the backyard, picnic style.  Wooden pint size berry boxes held the nourishment, small white gable boxes held the treats (aren’t they so cute with the names?!) and, blue and white straws transported the sweet key lime sodas.

If you know someone who needs a little pick-me-up think like Natalie.  I am confident that Jenn’s world was a little brighter that day.  Being stuck at home was a little bit easier.  And her growing bundle did a little happy dance in the womb.

Moments like these…that’s what life is all about.

by the way…wouldn’t this make for a fun Memorial Day picnic?!

moderation

It’s that time of year.  You know, that time. They’re  everywhere, playing with our minds.  All things diet and exercise, have us by our marionette strings.  All things fresh and new, are the bow to our fiddle.

Well, I say…phoey to it all!  Don’t get me wrong, I support a healthy lifestyle.  But I don’t think that healthy needs to be boring.  I believe in a little something called moderation my friends.  Okay, well honestly it’s more like I’m hiding behind that word because I have zero will power.  So for me, moderation is a necessity. But here’s the thing.  I love to bake, especially with my children.  I also love to fit into my skinny jeans (without having to spray my legs with Pam in order to slide them on).  So my resolution.  Bake when I feel like baking.  Enjoy a little and share a bunch.  I mean really, does my family  need 2 dozen cookies (emphasis on the need, want they just might)?!

Here’s the how to.  A small bio-pak container for a brownie dessert for the family next door.  A simple white box (with a circle label explaining it all) for an elderly friend.  A berry box in a cellophane bag for the teachers’ room or office break room.  All perfect (and stylish) ways to share.

If you’re looking for something sweet to add to your baking repertoire try these Rolo cookies I found at This Week for Dinner which came from A Greatfull Day (have to give props where props are due!).  They are beyond decadent and incredibly easy (and fun) to make.

Enjoy all that life has to offer.  Do it with moderation.  And add a little Garnish.

summer-bounty-751523

There I was flipping through the latest issue of Better Homes & Gardens and my eyes came across this totally fun way to use the wood pint berry boxes.

I’m thinking your crudites or bread baskets will be ultra appealing (and the talk of the town) when put on display this way. Take advantage of the summer’s bounty of fruits and veggies. With an idea like this, they are multi-tasking as a creative centerpiece and yummy munchies.

All-About-the-Double

How is one to celebrate the impending arrival of twins? With all things ‘double’ of course!

Garnish was recently asked the question…”I’m hosting my sister’s baby shower for twins, want to use items with ‘double’ in the name for funky and unique centerpieces. Want to add a little Garnish but can’t quite figure it out, can you help?”.

Umm…hello?! We LOVE to help! (more…)

All-Better-769582

Tomorrow is National School Nurse Day. The day to thank those who take care of our little ones while we’re not there. To put on the band-aid, console, and make everything all better.

Here’s a peek at what the nurses at our schools will be receiving. I hope it brings a smile to their faces. It certainly did mine while I was putting it all together. There are so many other options for this little treat too. Think about Mother’s Day, welcoming a new mama home, welcoming guests to their hotel room after traveling to your wedding, party favors…and so on and so forth!

Here I placed the caramel tissue paper in the wood pint berry box and then nestled some goodies inside. I garnished with a piece of red and white twine and a cute and simple card.

It’s all better, with a little Garnish.
